In order to timely identify and eliminate gas leaks on gas pipelines after the earthquake in the southern regions of the country, KazTransGas Aimak JSC launched mobile laboratories “DLS-Pergam” in the cities of Almaty and Shymkent, as well as Zhambyl, Zhetysu and Turkestan regions.
As a result of the survey in these regions from January 29 to February 12 of this year, 34 gas leaks were detected, work to eliminate leaks was carried out around the clock, seven days a week.
Thanks to the well-coordinated work of employees of KazTransGas Aimak JSC and other public utilities, all leaks were eliminated without emergency situations. And any gas leak, if it is not detected in time, is a potential explosion threat!
So, on February 7 of this year in Almaty, specialists of KazTransGas Aimak JSC with the help of a mobile laboratory “Pergam” detected gas leaks in the Medeu district. In this regard, 130 multi-storey buildings were temporarily disconnected from gas supply, where gas is used for cooking, as well as 173 private sector houses and the Muztau microdistrict.
On February 11 of this year, specialists of KazTransGas Aimak JSC also detected gas leaks in the Kazygurt microdistrict of Shymkent. In this regard, 1,100 consumers, 2 manufacturing enterprises and 2 municipal facilities were temporarily disconnected from gas supply.
Such measures are being taken to eliminate possible emergencies, since gas leaks can have serious consequences. In case of non-disconnection, the gas, moving through the ground, through sewage and water supply networks, would enter houses through toilets and washbasins, would go outside, accumulate in rooms and in case of a spark, an explosion would occur, which could lead to great loss of life.
Work on the inspection of underground and aboveground high- and medium-pressure gas pipelines using thermal imagers and methane detectors will continue.
In this regard, the company’s specialists urge consumers of natural gas to be especially careful and attentive when using gas appliances.
If there is a smell of gas, close all gas taps, ventilate the premises, do not light a fire, do not turn on or off electrical appliances, call the emergency team by phone: 104.
